The danger seemed averted, but in Orgosolo the war against wind power has resumed. The project, which calls for eleven 200-meter-tall turbines near Mount Corrasi, a unique natural, archaeological, and cultural site, has been resubmitted by Scirocco Prime Srl. The project's construction threatens the Einstein Telescope, the future European gravitational wave observatory, due to its proximity to the Lula area.

Stop

In Orgosolo, the atmosphere became heated, to say the least, when, yesterday afternoon, the municipality received notification of the resubmission of the project for the "Orgosolo-Oliena" wind farm. It was a complete disgrace: the area is of immense landscape value and bears witness to a thousand-year history of history, relationships, and work . Mayor Pasquale Mereu, the creator of Pratobello 24, the popular initiative bill presented by the committees against wind power and agri-photovoltaics in October 2024, which has nearly 211,000 signatures, immediately cried foul.

The mayor

"It's unacceptable that lands of such immense value could be destroyed in this way," Mereu began. This is also because "the risk of compromising the Einstein Telescope is very high." The international research center is currently being evaluated for housing in the tunnels of the former Sos Enattos mine in Lula. This area was chosen for its exceptional seismic silence and the absence of human-induced noise. The construction of wind turbines of this size in Orgosolo risks irreparably compromising this tranquility. The low-frequency vibrations and noise generated by the blades would interfere with the interferometer's sensitivity, nullifying an investment of over six billion euros and a crucial candidate for global scientific research.
