A missing duffel bag is at the center of the latest chapter in the investigation into the murder of Leonardo Mocci, the 24-year-old from Villacidro killed in Monserrato on the night of March 23, 2019, in Piazza Settimio Severo, after being lured into a trap. He was the victim of a drug deal: three kilos of "smoke" he was supposed to buy with a friend who was accompanying him on a date, which ultimately turned into an ambush, a robbery, and ultimately murder. Gianluca and Filippo Tunis and Daniel Campus are accused of the crime.

New reconstructions

On the night of the crime, Filippo Tunis apparently took refuge at the girl's home. The following morning, an Uber was called from that home. This is where the duffel bag comes into play. Prosecutors immediately ordered a search of the young woman's home, but the results were negative: nothing was found. Investigators then contacted the driver, who was interviewed by the Carabinieri. The Uber driver reported being struck by unusual behavior: the passenger, instead of placing the bag in the trunk as everyone else does, allegedly held it close to him throughout the entire trip.

The hypothesis is that the bag contained the clothes worn by the gang during the robbery, the guns (there may have been another in addition to the one that fired the gun), and the €10,000 stolen from the victim and his friend, with which they were supposed to buy the hashish. However, all trace of that bag has apparently been lost. Where it ended up after the rental car ride is the question the Carabinieri of the Cagliari Company's Investigative Unit are trying to answer, while the investigation expands with other suspects at large.
