The emergency room at the San Giuseppe Calasanzio hospital in Isili will remain closed.
At a meeting held this morning in the hospital's main hall, ASL Director General Aldo Atzori, speaking to the mayors, guaranteed service continuity throughout the August bank holiday.
"We have explored all possible solutions," the manager said. "Now we need to build a sustainable and attractive model for the future." The company has contacted over 40 professionals through available rankings, hired foreign doctors registered on the special list, activated additional services for doctors who have made themselves available, and signed two agreements with the AOU Cagliari and Arnas Brotzu. All this was done in close collaboration with the regional health department, which ensured coverage during the most critical period of the year.
For the mayors present, it was a major achievement, thanks in part to the persistence of the local authorities, who called for a decisive change of pace with the establishment of a permanent working group to initiate a shared process aimed at identifying structural solutions. " It's not possible," said Isili Mayor Luca Pilia, "to constantly manage the situation under a state of emergency." "We need greater attention," added Salvatore Argiolas, president of the Mountain Community. "Ours is a disadvantaged area that cannot be further penalized."
