A terrible crash occurred on Provincial Road 15, now one of the busiest roads in the entire Cagliari hinterland . A violent collision between a motorcycle carrying two cousins from Selargius and a car driven by a woman . The worst hit were the motorcycle driver ( Nicola Salis, 27, from Selargius ) and his 25-year-old cousin: the former died, the latter was hospitalized with critical injuries. His condition is reportedly serious .

RECONSTRUCTION – The accident occurred at the intersection with Via del Lavoro , which was packed with cars in both directions at the time. The collision was sudden, and the Carabinieri of the Quartu Mobile Radio Unit worked extensively to reconstruct the incident. Officers from the Selargius and Sestu stations were also mobilized.

The initial hypothesis suggests a head-on collision, with the rider and the passenger of the Benelli motorcycle thrown a few meters from the bike, which crashed onto the side of the road. Rescue efforts for the 27-year-old were unsuccessful . The driver of the car, a Ford C Max, was unharmed.

The alarm was raised immediately, with the arrival of several ambulances, the Carabinieri, and the Cagliari Fire Department. The investigation, as required by law, continued until late, with traffic only returning to normal after the vehicles involved were towed away.

INVESTIGATIONS – The culprits have yet to be determined: the Carabinieri interviewed several motorists traveling behind the vehicles involved in the collision, and are also attempting to retrieve footage from several security cameras near the accident site. The Carabinieri will certainly return to the scene today for further investigations.
