Carabinieri are investigating the tragic accident last night on State Road 387 in the Serdiana area, which claimed the life of 49-year-old Andrea Casula , a driver from Dolianova and a resident of Serdiana. Two other young men were hospitalized, at Brotzu Hospital and the Monserrato Polyclinic, with fortunately non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim was burned to death inside his car, which caught fire on the road immediately after a head-on collision with another car carrying the injured passengers.
The Carabinieri may also interview the survivors today to clarify the circumstances of the incident. A report on the incident has been submitted to the Prosecutor's Office. The investigation is being coordinated by Captain Antonio Pagnozzi, commander of the Dolianova Company . It remains to be seen whether the death was caused by the apparent head-on collision with the second car involved, or whether it was caused by the fire.
