The alarm over potential difficulties at the Tempio emergency room during its late-night opening hours during Carnival "is serious and represents yet another demonstration of the critical nature of the regional healthcare system under the government's management."
Lega MP Dario Giagoni made this statement a few days after the demonstration began.
The Tempio Carnival draws thousands of people from all over Sardinia and leads to "an inevitable increase in emergency room visits, especially at night. It's unacceptable to arrive on the eve of an event of this magnitude without certainty about an essential service like emergency care."
Giagoni attacks the regional government: "The government cannot continue to improvise and pass the problems on to the local authorities. Planning was needed, reinforcements were needed, and clear answers were needed. Instead , we find ourselves faced with yet another sloppy management that jeopardizes the safety of citizens and visitors."
The Northern League MP also rejects the idea of shifting workloads to Olbia: "It's unthinkable to compensate for Tempio's critical situation by overloading Olbia's emergency room, which is already under severe strain. This would weaken the entire healthcare system in northern Sardinia."
