Sustainable tourism: The European Parliament awards Asinara National Park a prize.

The Asinara National Park has received yet another award, receiving it for the second time at the European Parliament in Brussels, during the Awards for European protected areas that have distinguished themselves for their achievements in the strategic process of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism.
The Europarc Federation presented the award directly to the Park Authority's President, Gianluca Mureddu, for the policies implemented in the area of decarbonization, creating new opportunities for the island's operators. After obtaining its first CETs certification in 2019, the Park Authority has developed a new five-year action plan for 2025-2029, which President Mureddu presented in Brussels, along with the programs implemented in recent years in collaboration with businesses, associations, universities, and local governments, as well as the Gulf municipalities of Stintino, Castelsardo, Sassari, Sorso, and Sennori, including the Northern Sardinia Flag, under the supervision of Europarc.
Over 50 actions for Phase 2, capable of fostering the development of a new approach to tourism based on environmental protection, structuring protected areas' activities to promote quality services. The sea, water quality, and the relationship with the land are fundamental factors for community well-being and a fundamental prerequisite for sustainable tourism.
The CETS, which also has economic significance, impacting the fishing tourism sector, extends to the area of the Municipality of Alghero. The program of new actions for 2025-2029 will be presented at the Charter Forum scheduled for Thursday, December 4th, from 9:30 a.m. at the Asinara National Park headquarters. The meeting will be attended by local operators and institutions.
