He died before the incredulous eyes of passers- by after getting out of his car on the Sant'Antioco seafront. Paolo Valentini, 60 years old, from Gallarate but resident in the lagoon town for over a year, lost his life this afternoon following an illness that proved fatal.
He lived just a few steps away from where he collapsed and stopped breathing. He had shown signs of not feeling well during the day which unfortunately culminated with his death on the dock. The volunteers of the mobile rescue unit of “Sulcis Emergenze” who responded to the call made by those who witnessed the scene at around 3 pm tried in vain to revive him .
Also on site were a patrol of the Carabinieri, the local police and a team from the Barracellare company.
The body, covered with a rubber sheet, remained lying on the ground for several hours before its removal was authorised.
