Weather warning for Sardinia due to strong winds and storm surges . The Civil Protection warning is valid until midnight today, Monday, October 27.
Strong north-westerly winds are forecast across much of the island , which could develop into a storm or gale on the coasts of Gallura and the Gulf of Orosei and on the eastern ridges.
On the more exposed northern coasts and the north-western ones, storm surges of up to 4 metres are possible .
Changes to ferry schedules are already planned: the CinTirrenia Athara, which departed from Genoa last night, will skip the Porto Torres port and will be diverted to Olbia's Isola Bianca port , arriving this morning in the Gallura port. The Corsica Ferries Mega Express, scheduled for today, departing from Toulon and bound for the port of Olbia, has been cancelled.
