Still 48 hours of confidential prognosis for the 72-year-old cyclist from Porto Torres who, yesterday morning, riding a Canyon mountain bike was hit on provincial road 81, as he headed towards the center of Turrito.
The man, Carlo Pitturru, originally from La Maddalena but residing in Porto Torres, a former official of the Port System Authority, is hospitalized in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the Sassari civil hospital. He was the victim of an accident on the stretch of road between Abbacurrente and Platamona. While he was traveling along the provincial road he was run over by a Subaru that came up behind him. The impact to the rear wheel threw him forward, ending up on the windshield of the car, driven by an 87-year-old. The elderly man immediately assisted him by alerting 118: two ambulances on the spot, one medicalized and one from the Sardinian Rescue.
Given the seriousness of the conditions, the 72-year-old had been transferred in red code, aboard the ambulance, to the Santissima Annunziata. He had suffered several injuries and a head trauma. His condition remains serious.
