A public mourning ceremony was held in Solanas for the funeral of Michela Rubiu . This morning , the final farewell was said to the 47-year-old woman killed with a gunshot to the back of the head by her husband, Alessandro Pintus, who then fatally shot her brother, Andrea.
A large crowd gathered at the Church of the Madonna della Fiducia in Solanas , where the ceremony began at 10:30 a.m. Many people had to wait in the churchyard.
Residents of Solanas were there, along with many people from Sinnai . Many tourists and vacationers also wanted to be close to Michela on the day of her funeral .
In the front row of the church, mother Fabiola Orrù , dressed in black, a face of grief, her closest family listened to the words of faith and comfort spoken by the parish priest, Don Diego Zanda. At her side was Don Marcello Loi, parish priest of Solanas many years ago, and now parish priest of Pula, who did not want to miss the funeral service to say goodbye to Michela and her family, and Don Gianni Soro, also a former parish priest of Solanas.
There were moments of deep and intense emotion in the church, where grief truly reigned supreme. "We are here," said Father Zanda, "to talk about something incomprehensible. Michela was a special, extraordinary woman, full of ideas, committed to her work and her family. What happened is beyond anyone's comprehension. It's a story, a tragedy, that leaves us shocked."
After Mass, the body was transferred to the Sinnai cemetery for burial . A journey of over thirty kilometers in the middle of the summer season.
The funeral procession traveled along provincial road 17 , stopping for a few seconds near the seaside town of Solanas, a town Michela loved dearly . Here, escorted by the Sinnai traffic police (motorcycle unit), the funeral procession reached Sinnai and the new cemetery in Baccu Narboni, where the body was buried after a blessing by the parish priest of Solanas, Don Diego Zanda.
The woman's family and numerous people from Solanas were present at the ceremony, while in Sinnai many people awaited Michela's body and family at the entrance to the cemetery.
