The mayor of Sinnai, Barbara Pusceddu , has issued an ordinance proclaiming a day of mourning for the funeral (date and time yet to be determined) of Michela Rubiu , a victim of femicide.

The woman died in hospital on Monday after being shot by her husband in Solanas on July 23.

"A tragic case of femicide, a social scourge that—the ordinance reads—continues to strike women and deeply wound the entire community." The communities of Sinnai and Solanas expressed their shock, dismay, and condolences over the incident.

The funeral will take place in the parish church of "Madonna della Fiducia" in Solanas , on a date and time that will be communicated in a subsequent notice as soon as they are made known by the family.

A day of mourning will be declared on the day of the funeral , "interpreting," the decree states, "the feelings of grief and outrage felt by the entire Sinnai community, deeply affected by the tragic event, and to demonstrate, in a tangible way, our closeness to the family and relatives." "Flags are to be flown at half-mast in all public administration offices within the municipality. All citizens, especially self-employed businesses, entrepreneurs, and shopkeepers, are encouraged to suspend their activities during the funeral ceremony, using the most appropriate methods for the circumstances, as a tangible sign of closeness to the family and condemnation of all forms of violence against women."
