Andrea Tidu, 27, used a kitchen knife with a 20 centimeter blade to fatally stab his mother, Maria Dolores Cannas, 57, from behind in the family home in via Monte Genis, in Sinnai. A single lethal blow, delivered at the height of an argument yesterday afternoon. There is still no certainty about the causes: the young man, defended by the lawyer Roberto Zanda, remained silent yesterday before the prosecutor and the police, making use of the right not to answer, without therefore explaining the reasons for the murderous gesture.

The soldiers of the Quartu company are working on the reconstruction of the crime, led by Captain Michele Cerri. While the twenty-seven year old is in prison in Uta, the prosecutor Enrico Lussu has entrusted the task to the doctor Roberto Demontis for the necropsy investigations.

Relatives and acquaintances describe Tidu as a quiet boy, he is not known to the police, he worked with his father as a gardener. The only discussions with family members, from what we understand, were related to the use of the car. According to some witnesses, however, he had recently appeared impatient and nervous.

The police intend to reconstruct everything, including analyzing his mobile phone which was seized. Yesterday after the argument he moved a few hundred meters away from home, remaining motionless in shock where the police found him. Meanwhile, the father helped his wife. When 118 and the Carabinieri arrived in Sinnai, the woman was still alive. Unfortunately, the stab wound to her back punctured her lung and she died from a haemorrhage.
