Siniscola, hundreds in front of the high school against the wind assault: the meeting with Nadara Spa is cancelled
Students and administrators stop the student blitz: "Enough abuses on our land"The entrance to the M. Pira higher education institute in Siniscola turned out to be too small to contain the crowd that arrived from all over the island to stage the sit-in against the raid on the school by Nadara Spa , which is involved in the construction of off-shore wind farms on the island.
Hundreds responded to the appeal launched by the mayor Gianluigi Farris and the Baroniesi Committees , with students leaving lessons en masse around 11am, cancelling the meeting in the main hall, where the company's managers reportedly found hundreds of empty chairs .
Outside, among banners praising the defense of the environment and Sardinian dances, a square front uniting entire generations . In the front row also the students of the scientific high school Pira, the agricultural IPSASR and the Itcg Oggiano who, together with local administrators, parents and committees, are waiting for the exit of the representatives of Nadara, still barricaded in the structure.
"We are satisfied with this important demonstration against any abuse on our coast", commented the mayor Gianluigi Farris. "From our young people, through committees and the entire population with many arriving from all over Sardinia, we have given a great demonstration of democracy by saying that our territory is not for sale and that school is not a place of indoctrination, but of culture".
Farris adds: " We will not stop until the battle of Pratobello, which has seen 3,500 signatures from Siniscola, stops the devastation of our landscape , and the threat of wind turbines in front of our coast on which we are working on tourism development plans. This is only the beginning of the eviction notice to Nadara Spa and to all those who are convinced they are raiding our home".
Echoing him were the student representatives Davide Nieddu, Andrea Bulloni and Gabriele Dessì : "Ours is a peaceful demonstration to say that not only do we not share these comparisons imposed from above, but that the protection of our landscape comes first. As young people we will not stop and we will continue to defend Siniscola and its coast from the danger of offshore wind energy".
