In addition to the landfills of domestic and industrial waste, which abound in the countryside and along the road networks of the area, there are also concerns about the numerous carcasses of stolen, cannibalized, then burned and abandoned cars in the countryside between Siliqua, Villaspeciosa and Uta.

The tour

It starts on the State Road 130, in the direction of Cagliari, about a hundred meters before the junction for Siliqua, where the carcass of a Lancia Y, completely destroyed by a fire, has been present for over a year. The remains occupy an entire lay-by, closed off by a series of limiters, which prevent entry to avoid accidents with cars intending to park in that space. Once you get up the entrance ramp that leads to the town of Siliqua, in the field below there is a car, an Alfa Romeo 156, half submerged by flood waters. It has been here since last October, it is not clear how it could have arrived in this place without any road, so the most accredited hypothesis is that it could have been dragged during a storm, or stolen and hidden to then be robbed of its parts at a later time, the police are also investigating this. After passing the town, and taking the Provincial 90, in a lay-by located at the beginning of the territory of Villaspeciosa, there is the chassis of a car, a BMW cannibalized of every useful part. It has been here for over a year, and now hosts piles of waste abandoned by other uncivilized people. What remains of a Renault, abandoned and destroyed by flames last summer, is located along the deviation of the old garbage dump of Siliqua, on the road that leads to the countryside of Decimoputzu.

The investigations

A little further on you enter the territory of Uta and, in another deviation that leads to the dam on the Cixerri, under the large concrete barrier, there are the sheets of a car that is now unrecognizable, a little further on, where the countryside comes back to life, the remains of a Fiat Multipla have been abandoned among the lush vegetation. On the opposite side, around Provincial Road 2, other carcasses are present around Zinnigas and on the surrounding agricultural roads. These are the remains of stolen and burned cars, some dismantled to recover the parts, and in any case all abandoned in the countryside or on the edge of the roads, constituting an obstacle for motorists and a damage to the environment. The police forces, who investigate to trace the legitimate owners, who are responsible for their removal, do not always find the serial number or other elements useful for identification, and these carcasses continue to deteriorate in the countryside and on the peripheral roads.
