In Silì, road safety and services have been the subject of a report. Silvio Colatriano, a severely visually impaired person with a 100% disability, reported the situation. He points to the condition of Provincial Road 55 and several issues that, he says, make it difficult to get around the area. "We're in a state of neglect," he says, "and for those with vision problems, getting around on foot becomes even more difficult."
One of the most problematic points is the pedestrian crossing, regulated by traffic lights in front of the level crossing leading to Fenosu. "There's no acoustic signal: crossing is always a mystery to me," he explains. "Traffic is heavy, cars move quickly, and not everyone obeys the red light."
Colatriano also appeals to those traveling along Via Martiri del Congo. "I ask drivers and motorcyclists to slow down and obey traffic lights," he says. "When I leave my house, I immediately find myself on the road, and more than once I've feared being hit."
Among the critical issues reported is the removal of a public transport stop. "The bus stop for line 4 near the Maddalena church has been removed, and there isn't even one in front of the level crossing," he says. "To get on the bus, you have to go into the village, near the schools: it's about 300 meters away, and the route is full of potholes."
The latest report concerns the entrance to his home, also on Via Martiri del Congo. "There used to be a sidewalk in front of the house," he explains. "The recently built one is practically at the same level as the street, and when it rains, the water flows into the yard, risking flooding the entire area."
