A compact, supportive assembly, cohesive in its democratic roots.

Tortoli and the entire Ogliastra region rallied around Tortoli Mayor Marcello Ladu, who was the victim of an attack a few days ago: several shots were fired at his office at the headquarters of the industrial consortium . The mayor showed a painting, a reproduction of a Botero painting, hanging on the wall, bearing the marks of buckshot.

A chorus of noes arose from the participants, punctuated by invitations to participate.

"Come on, Marcello, stop taking shortcuts, report what's wrong. Be active citizens," was the appeal shared by many.

In the council chamber, administrators from across Ogliastra, citizens, the director of the ASL (Local Health Authority) Andrea Fabbo, and representatives of Ogliastra's trade unions and businesses were present.

Irene Murru, Fabrizio Annarumma, and Mara Mascia offered heartfelt comments: "We mustn't get used to these episodes. This isn't how we are in Ogliastra. It's not a tax we should pay."
