A newborn baby was found on the street, alive, naked and with his umbilical cord cut . The intervention of the ambulance and the carabinieri from the nearby station was immediate and providential, who rescued the child, who had presumably been abandoned on the spot for a few hours.

The child showed signs of hypothermia and was immediately taken to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari . According to initial information, he is in good condition and shortly afterwards the military tracked down his mother, a 29-year-old, who was hospitalized in the Sassari facility. In the morning she was arrested for attempted murder.

According to an initial reconstruction, the young woman gave birth this morning at dawn in her home in Osilo where she lives with her parents and grandparents , who declared themselves unaware of the pregnancy . She would have cut the umbilical cord alone, then - going out into the street - she abandoned her little son under a parked car.

The newborn's grandmother, woken up by the commotion, saw her grandson and called for help.
