Severe weather is expected to gradually ease starting tomorrow , with precipitation concentrated in the morning hours. This was confirmed by the ARPAS Meteorological and Climate Department during a meeting convened by the Director General of the Regional Civil Protection Agency, Mauro Merella , and the Councilor for Environmental Protection, Rosanna Laconi , following the criticality warning issued by the Decentralized Functional Center. According to ARPAS technicians, after days of persistent precipitation and significant cumulative rainfall, especially in the southern and eastern parts of the island, the weather is set to decrease in intensity . Strong southeastern winds are also expected to significantly ease during the day tomorrow, with residual exposure limited to the ridges and some areas of Ogliastra, the southwest, and the southern coasts. Wave motion is also expected to decrease, albeit with a physiological delay compared to the wind.
Despite the expected improvement, the red code for flood risk remains in effect for tomorrow, linked to the effects of the rains already fallen and the saturation of the basins. Potential critical situations related to flooding and rising river levels persist in the same areas already affected by the hydrogeological alert yesterday , with the exception of Gallura and Sulcis, which have been downgraded to an orange alert . The Hydro sector of the Functional Center has highlighted how the persistent rainfall has led to an increase in the flood risk alert level , while the hydrogeological risk is gradually decreasing. Some areas, including part of the Posada basin, remain at an orange alert level.
During the meeting, which was also attended by prefectures, competent authorities, and the mayors of municipalities still under red alert, the measures adopted in the regions were summarized: precautionary closures of schools and offices, traffic restrictions, evacuations in exposed areas, and continuous monitoring of waterways such as the Flumendosa and Cedrino rivers and reservoirs. Director General Merella finally emphasized that, given the uncertainty regarding the effects on the ground, the precautionary principle must prevail, confirming the full operation of the Integrated Regional Operations Room and coordination with ANAS and ARST for traffic management, particularly for the reopening of State Road 195 as soon as sea conditions allow.
