Fields flooded by water after the heavy rains of recent months and the difficulty in managing the consequences of the severe weather. These are some of the issues highlighted by the president of Confagricoltura Sardegna, Stefano Taras , who believes that "it would be necessary to review the regulatory framework governing the management and maintenance of our countryside , entrusting this task to a single entity: the Land Reclamation Consortia." Today, in fact, responsibilities are divided "among too many actors (Regions, Provinces, Municipalities, and Land Reclamation Consortia) who often fail to ensure efficient service, by coordinating or intervening in a scattered manner, due to a lack of tools and competent personnel, with the exception of the Consortia, which are capable of acting effectively in both ordinary and emergency operations," Taras adds.

The president of Confagricoltura appeals to the Regional Council and the Executive Committee to "initiate discussions with agricultural trade organizations as soon as possible." "Failure to reclaim water and inconsistent maintenance of watercourses, including smaller ones," Taras continued, "often cause significant negative consequences for agricultural areas crossed by rivers, streams, or seasonal torrents. Overflowing and flooding, resulting in crop losses, compromised rural roads, and thus difficulty reaching farms, consistently top the list of critical issues recorded in post-rainfall reports. This pattern has been recurring for years and could be contained with the constant presence of professionals capable of ensuring daily maintenance services in the areas. Events have taught us that squandering resources and energy, without instead focusing on centralizing management mandates solely within the Sardinian Land Reclamation Consortia, is not the winning strategy for reducing emergencies and providing greater security for agricultural businesses and rural communities."
