The seven brand new Stadler trains that will soon enter service on the Cagliari-Isili local public transport railway line were presented this morning at the San Gottardo metro station in Monserrato.

A renewal of the regionally owned railway system, explains Arst, already started at the time with the introduction of new trains also on the Alghero-Sassari-Sorso and Macomer-Nuoro lines.

Long, complex and sophisticated trials and tests along the line were carried out before the release of the Authorization for Commissioning (AMIS).

The traction is diesel-electric, with minimum atmospheric emissions (Euro 6) and speeds of up to 100 km/h.

They have 89 seats, a multifunctional area for luggage and bicycle storage, a bathroom accessible to wheelchairs, air conditioning and electrical and USB sockets for recharging mobile devices.

The inauguration was attended, among others, by various mayors of the municipalities involved in the service and by the regional councilor for Tourism, Gianni Chessa. After the ribbon cutting also the first trip to Isili.
