ARST informs users that, starting from Tuesday 7 April and for a duration of approximately two months , Line 2 of the Cagliari light rail system (San Gottardo – Settimo San Pietro section) will be temporarily suspended to allow for technological equipment work on the Monserrato–Mandas–Isili railway line .

To ensure continuity of service, a replacement bus connection (Line 172) will be activated on weekdays between San Gottardo Station and the Municipality of Settimo San Pietro, also extending to the centres of Sinnai and Maracalagonis , replacing the current bus lines 170 and 171.

The new service was designed to offer a direct connection along the entire route, avoiding transfers and simplifying travel for passengers from the wider area. Line 172 will unify the current connections, allowing a single means of transport between Maracalagonis, Sinnai, Settimo San Pietro, and San Gottardo. At San Gottardo Station, the continuation of the journey by light rail is guaranteed, with connections to Repubblica and Policlinico, and short wait times, averaging between 5 and 9 minutes.

Particular attention has been paid to improving frequency : daily services will be increased, with departures every 30 minutes during rush hour and every 60 minutes at other times. Furthermore, during peak travel times (morning and early afternoon), direct connections will be activated between Maracalagonis, Settimo San Pietro, and San Gottardo , to speed up travel.

On holidays , the replacement service will be limited to the San Gottardo – Settimo San Pietro route, in line with the current service configuration.

The travel tickets currently in use will remain unchanged : Metro and CTM+Metro Season Tickets and Passes (excluding the single journey ticket and the Carnet 12 CS) will be valid on the entire Line 1 and on the replacement service up to Settimo San Pietro, as well as ARST car Season Tickets and Passes for Route 2 and the Busfinder Integrated Season Tickets for Zone 1 (up to 20 km) and Zone 2 (up to 30 km) on the entire replacement service and on the entire tram line.

Users in possession of Metro or CTM+Metro tickets who intend to continue by bus beyond Settimo San Pietro station towards Sinnai or Maracalagonis can supplement their journey with a route 1 car ticket.
