The Carabinieri of Monserrato have denounced a 23-year-old unemployed Romanian with no fixed abode on charges of aggravated fraud . The boy was noticed at the entrance to the Sestu shopping center by a carabiniere from Selargius (not on duty at the time), while he was entertaining some elderly people, getting them to sign on an A4 sheet of paper, on which there were stamps, symbols and acronyms, referring to alleged bodies and associations that deal with various disabilities.

In addition to requesting signatures, the man collected donations of money for the opening of a hypothetical center for the disabled to be built in the name of the association he claimed to represent. The carabinieri investigated the matter, verifying that what the young man declared was totally false and imaginative, and that the association he claimed to represent does not exist.

In short, it was a well thought-out scam, which relied on the sense of humanity and the trust granted by elderly people. Hence the complaint: the case now passes to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
