They meet up with a tom-tam of messages on the social pages, meeting up twice a month in the car parks of Corte del Sole, Mediaworld or other large retailers in the vast commercial area along the former Carlo Felice (but also in Selargius and Monserrato) . Hundreds of tuning enthusiasts, many very young, are the protagonists of nocturnal raves who have been targeted by the police for months now who, immediately after the start of each event, carry out widespread checks with even some seizures and anti-drug services. Result? For fans of elaborate vehicles, kitted out with disco speakers or Formula One-worthy carbon fiber spoilers, the party is ruined before the races can begin.

The night raids

The soldiers from the Sestu station coordinate the Carabinieri's night-time raids, but given the high number of participants (one night it seems there were around a thousand) the local patrols were also joined by those of Monserrato, Selargius and the Quartu Company. The result each time is dozens of kids checked, a few joints seized, but also seizures and administrative stops of non-compliant vehicles. The raves are organized on Friday nights, approximately every two or three weeks, but systematically after a while the police arrive and close all the exits to the car parks and begin to identify. And in the end, if someone had in mind to set up some race between prepared cars, the challenge is prevented by the cumbersome presence of the military and the kids can only listen to the music at high volume for a while. With the prospect of being checked, after about an hour, almost all the kids leave.

The challenges ruined

Car tuning is the practice of modifying a vehicle compared to series production standards. The processing can be of an aesthetic, mechanical, electronic, automotive nature or linked to car hi-fi systems. The first may include the addition of side skirts, spoilers, spoilers, alloy wheels and custom paint jobs. The mechanical one, on the other hand, aims to improve the performance of the engine, suspension and other speed-related components. Among the most complex is electronic tuning which modifies the engine control unit, optimizing the fuel combustion parameters and increasing the power of the vehicle. Finally there is audio-video tuning which concerns the installation of high-end audio and video systems, so as to improve the driving experience. In fact, standard vehicles are transformed into unique pieces, even spending tens of thousands of euros. It must be said, however, that not all modifications made to the car are legal, given that in Italy the Highway Code is very restrictive in terms of modifications. Hence the administrative seizures of vehicles not in compliance with current regulations.
