A serious accident occurred on the outskirts of Porto Torres, where a truck driver was trapped in the wreckage.

The local fire department responded to the incident on Provincial Road 93, heading towards La Corte. The accident involved a heavy-duty vehicle used for municipal solid waste collection . After traveling approximately 100 meters off the roadway, it overturned and came to rest on a low wall and some trees down the embankment.

The driver was trapped inside. Shears and a hydraulic spreader were needed to free him.

The operations were particularly difficult due to the position of the heavy vehicle.

Once the driver was stabilized, with the assistance of 118 operators, the injured man was recovered by creating a gap in the vegetation with chainsaws.

The man was transported to Sassari Hospital aboard the Areus air ambulance. The Sassari Local Police arrived on site to conduct an investigation.
