At fourteen, he made his debut as a pizza delivery boy for a restaurant in Selargius , then his curiosity turned into a passion, becoming his life's work. Giuseppe Auriemma, 44 , originally from Naples but a native of Selargius , made it to the podium at the World Pizza Championship held in Parma a few days ago: third place earned him the overall victory, a competition featuring over 700 participants from around the world.

A star in the most technical and selective category of the three-day competition: the Neapolitan pizza STG (Traditional Specialty Guaranteed), where he took third place. " This is a prestigious recognition that I dedicate to my wife Marta , always by my side, and to my parents who are no longer with us," Auriemma said after the awards ceremony. He has won talent shows and other overseas pizza competitions, culminating in the most coveted title in the pizza Olympus. "For me, this isn't a point of arrival, but rather a motivation to continually improve."

A family passion that father Giuseppe is passing on to his son Gabriele, 16, who also competed in Parma and came in 41st out of 700 competitors. For the master pizza chef, this is an important recognition that also brings prestige to the island, and to Selargius. "A placing that fills us with pride and elevates the name of Selargius," commented Mayor Gigi Concu, "and yet another recognition for Giuseppe, who started out as a pizza delivery boy and then went into business for himself: a concrete demonstration of how, with sacrifice, dedication, and starting from the bottom, excellent results can be achieved. We hope his story can be an example to many other young people."
