There is still no sign of Gianni Pittui, the elderly man from Florinas who disappeared from Ploaghe on the morning of Sunday, September 14th . After his family raised the alarm, a search began that afternoon, continuing until late evening and resuming today, unfortunately without success.
The firefighters' and civil defense's operations base has been set up at the Ploaghe station square, where the last sighting was reported. The operations are being coordinated by the provincial commander of the Sassari fire department, Antonio Giordano. The Sapre teams—operators with drones and dog teams—are also involved in the search, scouring the area.
The Fire Brigade helicopter is also in the air, supported on the ground by teams from the Forestry Corps, the Civil Protection Department of Ploaghe and Florinas, as well as several volunteers with the family and relatives of the missing elderly man. The search areas have been mapped out, and the search will resume tomorrow.
