The Assessor of Public Education, Andrea Biancareddu recalls that the determination of the calendar of national holidays and state exams is the responsibility of the State, therefore it is intended to provide for the formulation of the regional school calendar for the 2023/2024 school year, in order to allow the didactic planning of the autonomous scholastic institutions, the preparation of the services of competence of the Local Authorities and the organization of family life. In addition, individual educational institutions, including infant schools, for justified needs and subject to agreement with the territorial bodies competent to ensure services for the right to study, may decide to bring forward the start date of lessons.

Establish the following time-outs for state-mandated national holidays. For needs deriving from the Training Offer Plan.

If the adaptation of the calendar leads to suspension of lessons, within the maximum limit of three days per year, a prior agreement is required with the local authorities competent to ensure services for the right to study. For needs related to specificities of the educational institution determined by regulatory provisions of a particular nature.

"The school calendar - underlines the councilor for public education, Andrea Biancareddu - is configured as a territorial planning tool, in consideration of the repercussions that the established time frames have on the organization of pupils' family life as well as services connected to educational activities, also taking into account the commitment made by the competent local authorities. I also remind you that, recognizing the value of school autonomy which, in cooperation with the local authorities providing services connected to teaching activities, can better respond to both the educational and training purposes and the need for flexibility in the training offer, it could make changes to the school calendar with any adjustments that may concern the start date of lessons, a different articulation of the Christmas and Easter holidays as well as the suspension, during the school year, of educational or teaching activities if deemed functional to the best performance of the training offer" .
