School, in Sardinia the fight against dimensioning is being prepared
Regional councilor Biancareddu plans to challenge the decree, while the CGIL has already decidedPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"I'm evaluating the appeal," says Andrea Biancareddu, regional councilor for public education, in reference to the implementing decree of the school dimensioning intended to cut over 40 autonomy in Sardinia. There are those who have already thought about it: the Sardinian CGIL Communications Workers' Federation: «Our union will contest it. In a Region with a frightening school dropout rate, we cannot accept a measure that will increase it», articulates Emanuela Valurta, new regional secretary of the Flc CGIL.
In practice, in schools with fewer than 961 pupils in 2024/25, and with fewer than 949 and 938 thereafter, unification is envisaged: the head teacher and the director of general and administrative services are missing. So in Sardinia a single manager will have to take on up to twenty schools, with a critical road network and insufficient transport.
«They ask us to reduce the managers, therefore the school autonomy», underlines Biancareddu, «and I pointed this out to Minister Valditara: on the island there are areas with 69 inhabitants per square kilometre, while for example in Cagliari there are hundreds. Then they put the chainsaw in my hand and I have to cut».
«The managers will govern a disproportionate number of schools in Sardinia: how will they be able to do it? We have classes of 28 pupils in the cities to save the small ones in the village 35 kilometers away, where it snows. We must protest together with regions such as Abruzzo, Molise and Umbria, which are not in better shape », is the invitation of Maria Luisa Serra, regional secretary of the CISL Scuola.
