The heritage of the National Art Gallery of Sassari it is enriched with two sculptures by the Orani artist Costantino Nivola . The two works, Mother Goddess and Builder , were purchased thanks to a 120 thousand euro loan from the Contemporary Art Plan. Made between the 1970s and early 1980s, they become part of the 20th century Sardinian collection.

The sculptures give shape to the reworking of images belonging both to a pan-Mediterranean pre-Nuragic past and to a fund of intimate and family memories , which Nivola has always remained fond of, as evidenced by the thread that connected him to his native Sardinia even in his New York years.

The Plan for contemporary art provides for the acquisition of some of the most significant artistic and creative productions made in the last 70 years, both by national and international masters and by living authors and authors currently operating in the context of national and international artistic research. international. The need is twofold: to fill the retrospective gaps and leave room for the present.
