"By the end of the year, all public lighting in the Municipality of Sassari will be made efficient," announced the municipal councilor for Public Works and Maintenance Rosanna Arru.

The public lighting redevelopment project entrusted to the Engie group , leader in Italy for decarbonisation and energy efficiency, was presented this morning at Palazzo Ducale.

The interventions have already begun in the month of January and foresee the installation of 16,000 street lamps with LEDs , the upgrading of 65 traffic lights and the installation of 67 new television cameras .

The protocol signed in 2019 with Engie and revised in some points by the current council (lasting 15 years) provides for a total investment of 8 million which also concerns the supply of thermal energy for 115 public buildings, including schools, offices, sports facilities and nursing homes.

The reduction in electricity consumption will reach up to 54% , as recalled by the mayor Nanni Campus.

Without Engie's intervention, the costs for 2022 would have increased by a further 2 million euros and instead in 2023 there will be a sharp reduction in costs.
