Sassari, protest by residents of Luna and Sole: "No to construction"
Citizens opposed to plans for the neighborhoodPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
Citizens against the construction project in a green area between via Luna e Sole and via degli Astronauti in Sassari. To discuss the issue, yesterday at Mater Ecclesiae, a hundred people, including inhabitants, politicians and technicians from the municipal administration, met in the debate promoted by Glocal, a community and social activation group in its first public outing. Which informs the citizens of the neighborhood, mostly unaware, of the future construction, by the Cagliari company Maspa, of two buildings, a supermarket and a parking lot in an area of about 13 thousand square meters. To which should be added just under 6,000 m2 for "public green use".
A trauma for the residents, repeatedly denounced in the discussion, against «the umpteenth supermarket» and «the loss of trees», the first possible cause of the suffering of the commercial activities present, and the second of the downsizing of a green area.
Tracking down the political leaders of the action involves an archaeological sounding and the rebound of the accusations between the majority and opposition representatives in the civic assembly. It all started with the approval of the municipal urban plan of 2011, and of the following implementation urban plan, on which Maspa, after an agreement with the owner of the area, the Congregation of the Pious Sisters Educators, presented a request in 2018. Since then, well 5 failures, from the Urban Planning Commission and the city council, because the plans did not meet the requirements of the standard project, until the green light of 2021/2022, also recently blessed by the civic assembly.
Stakeholders now have 60 days to submit comments. "We will take action - declares Carlo Sanna, founder of Glocal - on the legal level to find solutions". Stopping everything seems impossible because, as the manager of the Urban Planning sector Giovanni Pisoni affirms, "the risk is that the Municipality will be sued". But for the residents, the court is less scary than those buildings which, for some of them, will be built a few meters away from their homes.
