On June 7, 1984, Enrico Berlinguer suffered a stroke during a rally in Padua. The PCI secretary died four days later. And in the European elections of June 17, the Communist Party overtook the Christian Democrats. This morning, on the 42nd anniversary of his death, the Associazione 25 Aprile and Sinistra Futura, and shortly thereafter the Enrico Berlinguer Foundation, laid a wreath in front of the building on Viale Dante where a plaque commemorates Enrico Berlinguer's birth.

The plaque was created in 2022 by artist Igino Panzino. Understated yet effective, like the leader of the Italian Communist Party. Unveiled on May 25, 2022, thanks to the initiative of the Municipal Council led by Nanni Campus, it was initially detached from the building, then moved to the exterior wall.

The marble plaque had been stolen and damaged three months later, but was recovered, restored and rearranged.
