Mario Scarpa is the 53-year-old found dead this morning on Via Carlo Felice in Sassari.
The man, originally from Usini, ran a nightclub in Predda Niedda, in a building on Strada 14, and was well-known in the city.
Around 7 a.m., he was found dying on a sidewalk on Via Carlo Felice, almost in front of the hotel of the same name. Despite emergency medical services, the man died. A trickle of blood from his mouth raised suspicion among the Flying Squad, who are now investigating the incident on behalf of Deputy Prosecutor Lara Senatore.
However, no signs of injury were found on the man's body, but an autopsy will clarify the cause of death.
Scarpa's car was parked not far from where the car was found and was examined by forensic investigators.
Several aspects of the incident remain unclear, starting with why the businessman was there and the possibility of an alleged argument with another person after which the man became ill. The surveillance cameras in the area, which may have recorded the 53-year-old's final minutes, could help clarify the situation.
Meanwhile , several people were interviewed today at the police headquarters by officers from the Flying Squad, led by Director Michele Mecca. None have been arrested or investigated. And many are mourning Mario Scarpa on social media.
