The hostel in via Galileo Galilei was inaugurated in an improved guise last night in Sassari. The works on the property of Caritas and the diocese of Sassari saw the renewal of the water and electrical systems with the aim of making the structure safe.

«Now it will be able to accommodate twelve people - states Antonello Spanu, director of Caritas Turritana - who live on the streets ».

Access to the hostel will be possible through an interview with the organization's listening centers in order to delve deeper into the situation of the person in difficulty. "But there are no particular parameters other than that of need and of emerging from a condition of poverty."

The rooms have two/three beds together with a bathroom and those staying in the hostel will be able to count on breakfast and dinner . «This is how we celebrate - reports the archbishop of Sassari, Monsignor Gianfranco Saba - the day of the poor. This will be the meeting point of a human mobility that is not programmable."

Present yesterday were Italians and foreigners whose stay in the hostel may last one or more days. "We try to personalize the time as much as possible - adds Spanu - the objective is to build a meaningful relationship".

The emergency of the sentatetto shows no signs of abating, and not only in Sassari. «A day like this - concludes the director of Caritas - tells us that society still produces too much waste. This is an extreme response to the need but upstream we should review the logic of society itself ."
