Sardinia's firefighting machinery is at risk of being crushed under the pressure of the fire. And reinforcements are arriving.

Two Canadairs took off from Ciampino Airport around 4:00 PM for the island, where aircraft have been moving from north to south for hours to battle the ongoing fire fronts. No sooner had the fire been cleared than other fires broke out shortly thereafter.

The maximum alert is for the eastern sectors (today flames in Orosei, Cardedu and Tortolì, with restarting at Punta Molentis) but ground teams and helicopters are also in action in Borore, Osilo and Carbonia.

The two incoming aircraft, according to reports, are destined for intervention in the Marghine and Sulcis areas: in the latter area, the helicopters of the companies that won the tender to cover the last two lots of the firefighting service have not yet entered service.
