The new chief prosecutor of Cagliari is the 58-year-old Roman Rodolfo Sabelli , former president of the National Magistrates Association, currently adjunct prosecutor to the Capitoline Prosecutor's Office.

He was nominated by the CSM obtaining 11 votes compared to the 9 of the other candidate, the Cagliari prosecutor Gilberto Ganassi.

In June, the fifth commission of the High Council of the Judiciary had indicated Ganassi with 4 votes against his colleague's 2.
