The good news comes after nearly 24 hours of apprehension and manual excavation to prevent dangerous collapses: Alpine rescue technicians and firefighters have reached Luca Olmetto, the 31-year-old speleologist from Codrongianos who became trapped inside the Gorropeddu cave in the mountains bordering the municipalities of Urzulei and Baunei.

The man , however, is still immobilized by the debris covering him.

The complex operations of removing the earth and stones to allow their recovery continue.
