In Vallermosa, in the Sala Teatro in Piazza Don Aldo Piga, a regional seminar entitled "Renewable Energy Communities: the role of local authorities" and organized by the Department of Industry, Anci Sardinia and CAL Sardinia.

The event, which follows the signing of the memorandum of understanding aimed at updating the Regional Energy and Environmental Plan of Sardinia (PEARS), signed by the Department of Industry together with the Department of Defense of the Environment, Anci, Cal and the University of Cagliari and Sassari last December 20, is the forerunner to a series of initiatives, dedicated to the issues of energy transition, promoted by the Department of Industry of the Region.

«Today's seminar - says the regional councilor for Industry, Anita Pili - inaugurates a series of meetings on the theme of Renewable Energy Communities (CER) which will be followed by other information meetings, aimed at elementary and middle school students, dedicated to disseminate and promote the culture of sustainability and energy independence. The Communities represent a fundamental element of the energy transition, which in turn is a path to be undertaken in a systemic way to allow our communities to seize all the opportunities».

Energy communities today represent an indispensable tool for allowing municipalities to acquire autonomously self-produced energy and make it available to their local area, production activities and citizens. «The Region – recalls the Councilor for Industry – has already invested and will deploy new resources for this instrument which is already yielding remarkable results and which represents an important opportunity also in terms of future development».

The mayor of Vallermosa Francesco Spiga, the President of Anci Emiliano Deiana, the President of Cal Paola Secci, together with representatives of the Energy Services Manager - GSE SpA took part in the seminar. Fifty mayors and delegates of as many municipalities , among these, Stintino (Rita Vallebella), Alà dei sardi (Francesco Ledda) and Nuoro (Andrea Soddu). And then Paola Secci (President of the Local Autonomy Council of Sardinia and Mayor Sestu), Alessandro Naitana (General Manager of the Regional Department of Industry), Daniela Sitzia (General Manager of Anci).

In the meeting, the 140 million euros of funds for the 316 Sardinian municipalities were confirmed and all the issues relating to the planning and programming of the Renewable Energy Communities (CERs) were addressed, from the mandatory aspects to the specificity of the communities. The centrality of local authorities for the creation of energy communities was also discussed and possible financing instruments and incentives were investigated.

«The Renewable Energy Communities – Councilor Pili explains – are the tool that allows us to produce, consume and share energy from renewable sources. At national level, the transposition of European Directive 2018/2001 and the introduction of an incentive system, subject to implementing decrees, pave the way for a rapid development of these configurations. The CER therefore implements a virtuous model of energy management which, as we have always underlined, cannot however disregard a process of valorisation of the territory, through the pursuit of suitable objectives shared by the participants in the Community. In this context, the Municipalities equipped with adequate planning can access the funds of the PNRR and/or intercept at the same time resources from the Regional Funds».

«The process of setting up an energy community - continues the Councilor for Industry - represents an important opportunity under different profiles and for the subjects who will build it. On the other hand, it is a complex and articulated process in which local administrations play a fundamental role, which is expressed in actions that pertain to the technical, social and economic spheres. Today's meeting - he concludes - was dedicated to providing the Municipalities of Sardinia with a vision on the theme of the CERs and on the central role that the local authorities play in the constitution and management of the same communities».
