Giorgino fishermen worried about the regasification terminal in the nearby Porto Canale.
"The plant planned close to the houses - the Committee of the fishing village of Giorgino explains in a note - seriously risks affecting the economic activities, including tourist and recreational activities, which have developed along the lagoon and in the nearby port area ".
Two days ago there was the news of the green light from the Tar, which rejected the appeal of Grandi Trasporti Marittimi Spa.
But the location of the LNG plant, the Committee explains, "cannot be a legal question to be resolved in Court, it is a relevant question on a political level for the consequences it determines in the life of the inhabitants of Giorgino, in the possibilities of economic growth of the activities eco-sustainable of the entire lagoon, in safeguarding the operation of various port activities ».
A public debate was convened on Friday 13 January to discuss the topic, the plant construction company was also invited to the parish hall.
The work, the Committee also denounces, is "out of time" because it arrives at a stage in which "the price of LNG makes that energy source out of the market, with an exorbitant cost" and while "State laws impose on people, companies and to public administrations a reduction in its consumption".
Not only that: «Although we want to accept the transitional use of gas while waiting to replace it with clean and alternative sources, we expect to do so where it is more convenient for the company that manages the plant, instead of protecting the rights to development and safety of citizens of Cagliari and of the economic initiatives expression of the local productive vocations".
Finally, the Committee asks to identify another location , "that respects the rights of the local community and does not prejudice many other economic activities in the port of Cagliari and in the lagoon of Santa Gilla".
The Sardinia Lng project, an investment of 120 million, involves the construction of a LNG storage facility with a capacity of 22,000 cubic meters and a regasification plant , i.e. the transformation of the gas that arrives with ships from a liquid state to a gaseous.
After the go-ahead from the Tar, which rejected the appeal of Grandi Trasporti Marittimi Spa which had opposed it due to the proximity of the plant to the area in which its personnel and ships operate, there is only one passage: the agreement of the Region with the Ministry of Energy Transition .
