The snow brought a harbinger of winter, and autumn finally blossomed with a rainy November as it deserves. Rain has poured in over the past few days, and while the parched soil and the aquifers, which are beginning to swell, have benefited, less has arrived in the reservoirs, where since Friday, clouds have brought a total of just 5 million cubic meters of water, two of which on Monday.
The expected stocks
Umbrellas remain, but nothing has changed regarding restrictions. Aside from supplies suspended due to burst pipes or other incidents affecting water infrastructure, drinking water restrictions remain in place in several municipalities near Sassari, as well as in Bonorva and Bosa.
"But the reservoirs," Abbanoa says, "are slowly stockpiling supplies, and we expect to lift the restrictions in these centers as well." Agriculture is thankful for the last-minute relief for fields and seasonal crops. "But the conditions certainly aren't in place to plan for next season, and concerns remain," warns Gavino Zirattu, president of ANBI, the association of land reclamation consortia.
