The bad weather also stops rail traffic. For at least three days, trains will not travel along the Cagliari-Carbonia-Iglesias line due to the heavy rains that hit Sulcis last night, making it unusable.

Rfi technicians are working to assess the extent of the damage, very significant, recorded in the single-track Sulcitana section: in some points of the line the railway platform has completely disappeared, for the moment it is assumed that circulation will be restored no earlier than Wednesday 30 October . In the meantime, a replacement bus service is planned.

In the morning, the San Gavino-Pabillonis-Uras line was also interrupted, again due to bad weather, but was reactivated in the afternoon.

"We are in constant contact with Rfi to monitor the situation and to ensure a reopening of the line in conditions of complete safety for citizens - declared the regional councilor for Transport Barbara Manca -. This episode underlines the urgency of a structural intervention on this section. Also for this reason, the intervention of doubling the track is planned, and in part already financed, which will be able to raise the level of service for users and finally guarantee the continuity and reliability of a fundamental connection for Sulcis and all of Sardinia".
