Air traffic in the North-West area of Italy has returned to normal .

Enav reports that, «thanks to the timely intervention of its technical-operational personnel, the data transmission and connectivity problem encountered at the Milan Area Control Center has already been resolved».

The problem had blocked hundreds of travellers ready to depart from Sardinian airports . A malfunction had involved the radar system of the North-West Italy Area Control Centre, on which the air movements at high altitude over Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria depend.

The blockade had forced airports to suspend or limit take-offs and landings. Therefore delays, cancellations and diversions that also involved numerous Sardinian travellers .

Once the problem was resolved, the situation gradually returned to normal and this morning there were no problems at the island's ports.
