The Sassari Police Headquarters' Flying Squad arrested two alleged members of the Campania Camorra clan for aggravated extortion using mafia methods against a financial advisor from Olbia.

The arrest was carried out pursuant to a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, following investigations coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted by the Sassari Flying Squad, led by director Michele Mecca, in collaboration with their colleagues in Naples.

One of the two suspects was arrested overnight in Naples, the other in Varese while he was moving abroad. According to investigators' findings, the two, who had been living in Olbia for some time, used mafia-style methods to force the businessman to hand over large sums of money, at least €150,000.

To make their threats more credible, they also boasted of belonging to the Licciardi clan, one of Naples' historic criminal organizations, rooted in the Secondigliano and Vasto neighborhoods, and part of the Camorra alliance known as the "Secondigliano Alliance" or "System."

This organization also includes other mafia families such as the Contini-Bosti, active in the Vasto and Arenaccia neighborhoods, and the Mallardo, present in Giugliano and neighboring municipalities, with branches also in the Neapolitan district of Vasto.

The investigation, triggered by the entrepreneur's complaint, reconstructed the entire story. The man had been approached by the two suspects last summer in Naples, likely because of his work. The contacts continued in Olbia, where the threats and extortion were carried out: on one occasion, a gun was shoved into his mouth. The entrepreneur gave in to the intimidation, paying several times. The situation worsened when the two threatened his family as well, visiting the man's parents. At that point, the financial advisor decided to contact the police and filed a complaint, launching the investigation that concluded with today's arrests.
