"Closed, don't ring. I won't open. I've reached my maximum number of patients today." This is the note, hastily written and taped to the doorbell, that users found yesterday at 6:14 PM in front of the ASCoT clinic in Oristano. A blunt message that captures the situation better than any press release: doors closed when, according to official hours, the service should have remained open until 7 PM.
Yet another unexpected stop, yet another wasted effort by citizens seeking assistance who found themselves faced with a ticket instead of a doctor.
Giampaolo Lilliu, president of the Regional Association of Former Asbestos Exposed Persons in Sardinia, highlights "the ongoing critical issues reported by residents" and denounces "an irregular service delivery method, which in our opinion does not comply with the agreement announced by the Oristano Local Health Authority, since the announced opening hours were 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM."
Hence the clear request for the commissioner's intervention "to eliminate the mix-up and ensure citizens receive medical care within the publicly announced hours." According to the association, this disruption is not an isolated incident but yet another sign of a system struggling to guarantee the promised doctor-patient relationship and, above all, compliance with the hours communicated to the public.
