"To reduce the inconvenience on State Road 195, it would be enough to start work at 9.30 instead of 7.30, thus avoiding obstructing traffic during peak hours".

The former mayor of Pula, Carla Medau, sent a letter to the prefect of Cagliari and to the territorial manager of Anas - and for information to all the mayors of the area - to ask for an intervention capable of solving the problem of traffic which paralyzes the only road that connects the capital to the south-western coast of the island.

«We have been enduring the inconveniences of the endless works of the Anas construction sites for months now, open for the extraordinary maintenance of the Sulcitana state road - he writes in the letter -. I would like to point out right away that we greatly appreciate that the works are being carried out, because they are aimed at improving the safety and viability of the only road infrastructure we have. But we face kilometric queues on a daily basis , between general irritation and some reckless maneuvers in search of other "escape routes" to reach one's destination in a reasonable time. It is unacceptable that it takes up to two hours to travel just 20 kilometers . We feel hostage, prisoners of Highway 195. We feel deprived of our precious time and of our dignity, because this situation, which limits the demand for an essential service, is not worthy of a civilized country. It is no longer acceptable that our needs, our rights are trampled on and kneeling down to the blackmail of "necessary work" without these being carried out with common sense, with methods and times that do not penalize the lives of citizens. I have gathered the open dissent of many motorists, economic operators and other users against this unacceptable organizational shortcoming . In my opinion, the organization of the works needs to be reviewed, for example by providing for them to start at times when there is not the maximum concentration of morning traffic. It would be enough to have them start at 9.30 in the morning instead of 7.30. I hope that Anas quickly adopts some corrective measures because our patience, our civil tolerance, is really reduced to a flicker. We are ready to defend our rights, if necessary, even with strong initiatives".
