A slow pilgrimage along the Poetto seafront in Quartu Sant'Elena, where 18-year-olds Filippo Corongiu and Gabriele Galici lost their lives at dawn on Friday, crashing their scooter into a lamppost after a night out at a local nightclub. Throughout the day, friends and family gathered to leave flowers, notes, and letters.

The faces of young people bathed in tears before that cursed pole that took two lives too soon. They arrive one by one, hanging bouquets of flowers that the scorching sun quickly dries. There's also a banner reading "Fili and Gabri, you will live forever in our hearts," and touching words written on a piece of lined paper.

Just a few steps away, life goes on at the seaside, but here on this stretch of road, time seems to have stopped just before dawn. And in the afternoon, workers from the Sicurezza e Ambiente company arrived: they cleared the asphalt of debris and signs of the accident. And the painful journey of the cross continued at the mortuary at Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari, where countless people continue to arrive to support the parents and relatives of the two boys.
