Quartucciu, work on the linear park has started

The bulldozer engines have started up and work on the construction of the Linear Park along the Is Cungiaus stream in Quartucciu has officially begun.

Workers are currently working on Via Maracalagonis, clearing the area and assembling the foundations for the new pedestrian and cycle bridge. Additionally, the asphalt of the existing Via Mandas overpass will be resurfaced with red asphalt to ensure continuity with the park's pedestrian and cycle lane. The guardrails on Via Maracalagonis will be replaced with wooden ones.

The park, located in the municipal area of Via Domusnovas, will feature spaces for socializing, relaxing, and outdoor sports, and new parking spaces will be created. At the same time, the riverbed and banks will be rehabilitated, with the concrete canal being resurfaced to facilitate unobstructed water flow.

The banks will be reclaimed, with the reeds removed and creeping vegetation planted to stabilize the slopes and prevent landslides. "The project, along with other planned local developments such as the cultural axis and the entertainment and sports center axis, will bring the suburbs closer to the city center," assures Councilor for Public Works and Environment Walter Caredda, who at the same time admits that the Linear Park project will take a long time, as it will be divided into two lots.
