Abbanoa emergency response teams are completing the ongoing work on Via Manara in Quartu Sant'Elena, where a primary water main serving the town suddenly burst overnight. Since the same section of the main was affected by the previous day's break, the company's technicians have completely replaced a section of approximately 6 meters. The work is expected to be completed around 2:00 PM. Once the main is back online, the municipal reservoir will be reopened and the network will be operated to restore water supply throughout the town. The Quartu Sant'Elena water network extends approximately 100 kilometers, and it will take approximately 3 hours to fully restore pressure. Service is expected to be fully restored by 5:00 PM .
This is the latest statement from Abbanoa regarding the new break that occurred last night in the primary pipeline on Via Manara, leaving the city without water.
In order to begin repair work, Abbanoa technicians had to close the city's reservoir and interrupt water supply to the entire town , causing obvious inconvenience to users.
The Municipality has not issued a school closure order, but has announced that schools with water shortages may close for sanitation reasons. Several schools have decided to remain closed, given that the water outage affects the entire town.
Meanwhile, protests have erupted on social media over a water main that's leaking everywhere. This is the third incident in the last 10 days, the second on Via Manara . Many, including Mayor Graziano Milia , are wondering why the water supply is cut off every time throughout the entire town.
"Water network collapsed and interventions incapable of guaranteeing continuity and safety of the service", denounces the city coordination of Fratelli d'Italia .
"Families, schools, businesses, and companies are suffering damage and disruptions that can no longer be dismissed as mere unforeseen events. It is unacceptable that a city like Quartu is left at the mercy of constant outages, without a clear strategy or adequate maintenance of the network . It is essential that Abbanoa and the municipal administration intervene with an immediate, concrete, and verifiable plan capable of preventing further breakdowns and restoring an essential service like water supply," reads a statement from Giorgia Meloni's party.
A few days ago , Mayor Graziano Milia expressed his concerns by telephone to the President of the Abbanoa Board of Directors, Giuseppe Sardu, and requested an urgent meeting to determine the cause of these constant water main breaks.
