And there was light. After the initial asphalt section, the entire 1.5-kilometer-long Via Marco Polo was lifted out of the darkness thanks to the new street lighting recently installed by Engie on behalf of the Municipality.
In the background is a municipal funding of 170 thousand euros dedicated to the Quartu coastal artery.
"The project, designed based on the characteristics of the artery, will ensure compliance with regulatory and lighting standards, as well as faster interventions and repairs," explains the Municipality's Technology Services department. "Following the excavations for the cable ducts and plinths for the poles—38 in total, 9 meters high and equipped with 60-watt lamps—it is already fully operational."
Thirty-eight streetlights in total, featuring latest-generation LED technology. "The entire street, already improved thanks to the new asphalt, will now be safer throughout the day," a statement from the Municipality reads. "Data shows that the most fatal road accidents occur in the middle of the night and outside residential areas, confirming the importance of optimal visibility. Installing street lighting, where it isn't already present, is therefore a crucial step forward to ensure the necessary visual quality."
